General Criteria

Call for Research Proposals

The Canadian Hemophilia Society, in collaboration with Pfizer Canada (formerly Wyeth), has established the Care Until Cure research program to support clinical research, including outcome evaluation, to improve the quality of life of persons with hemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders.

Eligibility

Applicants must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants and affiliated with a Canadian university or health-related organization. Grants will be made available for clinical research, including outcome evaluation, in fields relevant to improving the quality of life of:

  • hemophiliacs
  • persons with von Willebrand disease or other inherited bleeding disorders
  • persons with related conditions such as HIV or hepatitis C
  • carriers of an inherited bleeding disorder.

Location of Tenure

The research will be conducted in Canada by Canadian researchers affiliated with Canadian universities and not-for-profit health-related organizations.

Grant amount / Duration of Support

Individual grants will be awarded for one to two years with a maximum of $75,000.00 per year. Second year funding can be awarded based on the evaluation of a first year progress report. Grant period will begin on April 1, 2011.

Funds will be disbursed in two payments.

Deadlines

All completed application forms and support documents must arrive at the National Office of the Canadian Hemophilia Society on or before November 15, 2010. The names of the winners of the grants will be announced in February, 2011.

Evaluation

Applications will be reviewed and evaluated by an independent peer review committee composed of Canadian medical and scientific healthcare professionals. This committee will make final decisions on the awarding of the grants.
